Arrive in Ahmedabad and visit the Gandhi Ashram and Akshardham among other architectural marvels. Next, visit the Sun Temple at Modhera which has been designed in such a way that the Sun's rays illuminate the sanctum at dawn. En route, visit Patan that has over 100 Jain temples. Continue onto Dwarka, spend the day sightseeing visiting the famous temple of Dwarkadeesh, finish with the temple of Nageshwar Mahadev, one of the 12 jyotirlingas. Next day, pay homage at the Somnath temple and learn about the history it is steeped in. The next stop is Palitana, located atop a hill that is surrounded by 900 temples each rivalling the other in beauty and magnificence. View on each temple the detailed carvings, beautiful idols and images, jewelled statues and intricate torans. Return to Ahmedabad for onward journey.

Day 1. Arrive in Ahmedabad, tour city; Day 2. Excursion to early 11th century Sun Temple en route visit Jain temples with exquisitely carved wooden dome at Patan; Day 3. Drive to Dwarka, en route visit Virpur; Day 4. Full day sightseeing at the temples in Dwarka and Bet Dwarka, overnight at Junagarh; Day 5. Visit the Girnar temples and continue onward to Somnath. At Somnath, see the 165 feet high tower over the main sanctum; Day 6. Arrive at Palitana for a 3 ? km climb of over 3500 step from the town, visit temples; Day 7. Arrive in Ahmedabad for onward journey.

Delhi, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Amritsar, Dharamshala

After arriving in Delhi, visit Gandhi Smriti, drive through Lutyen's Delhi, visit the National Museum and sit for a special talk on the Life and teachings of Buddha. Visit Jama Masjid, Jan temples and Gurudwara Sisganj in Old Delhi. Experience the spice market, local perfumes and alleyways that haven't changed for the past few centuries. End the evening with a sound and Light show at Red Fort that details the history of Delhi. Next day leave for Rishikesh via Haridwar. On arrival drive down to the Maharaja's Lychee and Mango orchards. Visit ancient meditation caves and walk across a sacred river on the pedestrian bridge. Begin the next day with meditation by the Ganges. Travel by road to the sacred confluence of two rivers at Devprayag. Join in and witness the evening ‘Ganga Arti’ or worship of the Ganges. Start the next day again with meditation. Walk in the city of Rishikesh, imbibe the calm and channel your soul with the ascetics at the ashrams/ discuss faith with practitioners. Next stop is Amritsar via Haridwar to see Har- ki- pauri- the site where the Kumbh Mela is held every 12 years. In Amritsar, see the Golden Temple, the most sacred shrine of the Sikhs. Visit the Temple's community kitchens; also visit Jallianwala Bagh for its historically significance. Continue onto Dharamshala, home to His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Walk through a Rhododendron forest to McLeodganj. Visit the monasteries and listen to discourses on Buddhism. Walk in the town market that has been set up by Tibetan Refugees. Drive down to lower Dharamshala; see the handicrafts at Norbulingka Institute, the library archives and the monasteries around Dharamshala. Visit a nunnery that to this day carries on a 7th century tradition.

Arrive in Ranthambore and trek up to the fort amidst the hunting grounds of the Maharaja of the erstwhile state of Jaipur. Visit the tiger sanctuary. Visit Bundi, Taragarh fort Kipling has famously written about. Explore an architecturally beautiful temple complex built in the 9th century at Baroli. Drive to Bhainsrorgarh fort- situated on the edge, 230ft above river Chambal. Visit to Bhil village and 12th Century Shiva temples. See letters exchanged with Tod at Bijaipur. Explore Chittorgarh fort. See James Tods' bungalow and an ancient church at the village- Todgarh. Drive through the hills to see the 'eye of Mewar' followed by a jeep safari and jungle walk through Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary. End trip at a heritage hotel that was the residence of the Maharana of Mewar- soak in the history of The Sisodia dynasty of Mewar which is considered the oldest dynasty in the world.
